Short presentation of the institution

The Special Primary School of Kilkis was established in 1986 and thenceforth it accomplishes the educational needs of children in pre-school and school age (from4 up to 14 years old).

The target groups are mentally deficient, autism, physically handicapped, cognitive handicapped, cognitive and emotional difficulties, and speech problems.

Attendance begins with the SCHOOL READINESS-EARLY LEARNING SKILLS. After this stage and afterwards the evaluation of the pupils the teaching if basic school skills begins (reading, writing, numeracy), a programme of social adjustment (autonomy, social behaviour, adaptation to the environment), a programme of CREATIVE ACTIVITIES (aesthetic upbringing – music-kinetic action – leisure time) and finally programme of PRE-VOCATIONAL READINESS (pre-vocational skills – professional orientation) accompanied by the pupils’ evaluation.

During the school year programmes of school and social inclusion are being implemented in collaboration with ordinary schools and local society bodies, as well as sport events throughout Kilkis Prefecture and other bordering Prefectures (Special Olympics).
